Anioma State Creation Has Reached Critical Stage, Closer To Realization – Ned Nwoko

Senator Ned Nwoko has renewed his call for political leaders, traditional rulers and stakeholders across Delta North to close ranks behind the campaign for the creation of Anioma State, insisting the quest is a long-standing struggle for justice rather than a political project driven by personal ambition.

In a statement, Nwoko described the agitation for Anioma State as a historic movement that has endured for decades, built on the sacrifices of past leaders and sustained by the aspirations of the Anioma people for equity, fair representation and inclusive development.

The senator said the campaign has reached a *critical stage*, noting that the Technical Committee on the Creation of Anioma State has affirmed that the constitutional process remains on track. He pointed to milestones already achieved, including the sponsorship of the bill and the successful public hearing, as evidence of steady progress.

According to him, the proposed state is aimed at addressing long-standing structural imbalances, expanding economic opportunities, strengthening democratic representation and accelerating development across the Anioma area.

Nwoko also echoed the committee’s appeal for political office holders, aspirants, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to set aside personal interests and work together in pursuit of the collective goal, warning that unity would be crucial to the success of the statehood campaign.

Expressing confidence in the outcome, the Delta North senator said he remains committed to seeing the process through, expressing optimism that continued cooperation among stakeholders would pave the way for the eventual creation of Anioma State.
