Olu of Warri: Excellence in Culture Will Make Nigeria Envy of World

The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, has said promoting excellence in Nigeria’s traditional institutions and cultural heritage can make the country the envy of the world.

The monarch spoke on Friday at the Aghofen in Ajamimogha, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, during activities marking his fifth coronation anniversary.

Reflecting on his five years on the throne, the Olu attributed the achievements recorded under his reign to God, saying the cultural transformation being pursued through the Warri throne was beyond the Itsekiri nation.

“What God is doing through this throne, it is beyond Itsekiri, it is for Delta State, it is for Nigeria,” he said.

The monarch said the pursuit of excellence should extend beyond traditional institutions to business and education, urging Nigerians to embrace the same values in different spheres of life.

He thanked guests and supporters for their prayers and goodwill, saying: “Everything you see here is not me, it is God that is shining through me, it is God that is expressing himself through me.”

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, who attended the celebration, described the Olu as a “cerebral monarch, bridge builder, exemplary leader and a man of grace,” commending his contributions to the development of Delta State.
