Delta Govt Indefinitely Suspends Works Commissioner Over Alleged Assault

The Delta State Government has suspended the Commissioner for Works (Highway and Urban Roads), Hon. Izeze Rume Reuben, indefinitely with immediate effect.
The suspension was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Kingsley Eze Emu on Monday August 10, 2026.
According to the statement, the suspension is to allow security agencies conduct an impartial investigation into allegations linking the commissioner to the recent assault on Mr. Simon Mudi, Senior Special Assistant on Protocol, also known as Temple, at the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun.
The state government emphasised its unwavering commitment to the maintenance of public safety, law and order, and the protection of lives and property.
It stressed that this stance remains firm regardless of the individuals or institutions involved.
“The Delta State Government remains committed to the maintenance of public safety in all circumstances which guarantees law and order and the sanctity of lives. This position is upheld even when institutions of state are involved,” the statement added.
