Ijaw Win Maiden Warri Unity Games, Clinches N10m Prize

The Ijaw ethnic nationality has emerged winner of the maiden Warri Unity Games organised as part of the coronation anniversary activities of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.
The Ijaw team clinched the top prize of N10 million after an impressive performance at the inter-ethnic sporting competition held at Federal Government College, Warri in Delta state, Saturday.
The Urhobo team emerged first runner-up with a N5 million prize, while the Itsekiri came second runner-up, getting a N3 million prize.
The competition brought together participants from the different ethnic nationalities in Warri, with the games designed to promote friendship, healthy competition and unity.
Celebrating the Ijaw victory, the Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Isaac Oritseweyinmi Agbateyiniro, alongside traditional rulers and other dignitaries, congratulated the winners.
The maiden edition was part of the Olu’s renewed drive to use sports, culture and entertainment to strengthen relationships among the people of Warri and promote peaceful coexistence.
The successful outing is expected to become an annual feature of the Olu of Warri Coronation Anniversary celebrations.
