Lemuel Murder: Suspect Arrested, Transferred to Delta Police Command in Asaba

A suspect linked to the alleged murder of three-year-old Lemuel in Sapele, Delta State, has been arrested by the police and transferred to the Delta State Police Command headquarters in Asaba for further investigation.

According to reports, the suspect was allegedly keeping the child inside his residence while his wife joined the boy’s parents and other residents in searching for him.

It was gathered that when the search party reached the couple’s home, the landlord reportedly asked the suspect whether he had seen Lemuel. He allegedly denied having any knowledge of the child’s whereabouts.

The searchers were said to have repeatedly called the child’s name without getting a response. It was later suspected that the boy may have been rendered unconscious or otherwise prevented from responding.

The case has raised disturbing allegations of human body-part trafficking, with calls for investigators to establish whether the suspect was acting alone or as part of a wider network.

Residents and community members who supported the search and rescue effort, including the local government chairman, have been commended for their assistance.

The Nigeria Police Force has been urged to thoroughly examine the suspect’s recent phone records and identify anyone who may have received or commissioned the alleged supply of human body parts.

Those found to be connected to the crime should also face investigation and prosecution, as residents say dismantling any wider network is essential to preventing further attacks and protecting other children in the community.
