NAMDA Gives FG Three Weeks to Resolve Demands, Warns of Strike

The Nigerian Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA) has given the Federal Government a three-week extension to conclude negotiations on its outstanding demands, warning that failure to reach an agreement could trigger industrial action.

The resolution was contained in a communiqué issued after the association’s Emergency National Executive Council (E-NEC) meeting in Uyo.

The communiqué, signed by NAMDA President, Dr. Nosa Lancy Orhue, and Acting Secretary-General, Prof. Aniekan Peter, stated that the extension runs until August 31, 2026.

According to the association, the extension is intended to give the government enough time to address all unresolved issues. It warned that if there is no meaningful progress by the deadline, the union will announce a three-day warning strike.

NAMDA also directed its branches nationwide to hold at least two congresses and sensitisation programmes within the period to mobilise members.

Branches are expected to submit reports and evidence of their activities to the National Executive Council through the secretariat, including updates on members’ level of preparedness for the planned industrial action.
