Oborevwori Orders arrest after Effurun Violence, Vows Perpetrators Will Face Justice

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has directed security agencies to identify and arrest those responsible for Sunday’s violent incident in Effurun, declaring that anyone found culpable will be prosecuted.

The directive follows the circulation of videos on social media showing scenes of violence in the area, including the reported assault on Simon Mudi, an incident that has attracted widespread public concern.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, said the state government strongly condemned the attack and other acts of violence recorded during the incident.

He described the reported assault on Mudi as unacceptable, stressing that violence has no place in Delta State and would not be tolerated under any circumstance.

Aniagwu disclosed that Governor Oborevwori had instructed relevant security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation, identify everyone connected to the incident and ensure those responsible are brought before the courts.

“The Delta State Government will not tolerate any act of violence capable of threatening public peace or endangering the safety of residents,” he said.

The commissioner reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, adding that no individual or group would be shielded from prosecution, regardless of status, influence or political affiliation.

He appealed to residents to remain calm, avoid taking the law into their own hands and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.

The state government also assured the public that every lawful step would be taken to ensure those behind the violence are held accountable while peace and order are maintained across the state.
