Warri Kingdom Unveils Programme for Monarch’s “Big 5” Coronation Anniversary

According to the schedule, activities will commence on Friday, August 14, with Praise Day at Nanna College, Warri, before the Warri Unity Games take place on Saturday, August 15, at Federal Government College, Warri.

The Grand Finale of Bini Riva Life is scheduled for Sunday, August 16, in Oboghoro.

On Monday, August 17, attention shifts to a Bike and Scooter Competition along the Trans Warri–Ode-Itsekiri Road, while children will compete in the Itsekiri Langu

age Competition at the Main Hall, Ode-Itsekiri.

Traditional homage-paying ceremonies will begin on Tuesday, August 18, at the Aghofen and continue through Friday, August 21.

The programme includes Regatta Day on Thursday, August 20, featuring homage by communities in the Ode-Itsekiri axis, while Friday, August 21, has been designated as the Main Celebration Day.

The anniversary celebrations will continue with a Football Match on Saturday, August 22, at a venue to be announced, before rounding off with a Thanksgiving Service at the Aghofen on Sunday, August 23.

The coronation anniversary is one of the most significant events on the Itsekiri cultural calendar, commemorating the reign of His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III and celebrating the kingdom’s enduring heritage, unity and development.
