Delta APC Rejects Report on ‘Violence’ at Stakeholders Meeting

The All Progressives Congress in Delta State has dismissed as reckless, false, malicious and sensational, a newspaper report claiming violence rocked its Delta Central senatorial stakeholders meeting.

In a statement by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Valentine Onojeghuo on Tuesday July 28, 2026, the party said the stakeholders gathering which was held at the Petroleum Training Institute Conference Centre in Effurun and broadcast live by Arise TV and TVC News was peaceful, well-attended and concluded without incident.

“At no point did the meeting degenerate into the chaos, free-for-all or mass exodus falsely reported,” the statement added.

It noted that the video footage cited by a reporter of one of the National Dailies came from a location elsewhere on the expansive PTI grounds, not the main conference hall where the stakeholders met.

It added that linking the unrelated scenes to the APC event, was “misleading and irresponsible.”

The statement also rejected any suggestion of rival factions or leadership struggles within the Delta APC noting that Congresses held in line with the party constitution and National Working Committee guidelines produced a single recognised State Executive Committee chaired by Chief Solomon Arenyeka, JP, and ratified at the national convention earlier this year.

The statement berated a factual error in the report where Sylvester Imonina was State named as the state Publicity Secretary, a position he left in 2023.

“That a journalist covering the affairs of a major political party could not verify the identity of its official spokesperson before going to the press is both shocking and professionally indefensible,” the statement said.

The party urged the public to ignore the report and said it remains focused on building support across the state, working with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and advancing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
