Tinubu Names Fayose, Others to Lead Federal Agencies

President Bola Tinubu has approved fresh appointments into several federal agencies and commissions, naming former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose as chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The appointments, announced in a statement issued Monday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, cover 10 government agencies. Fayose will chair the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as non-executive directors, while the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and existing executive directors remain on the board.

The President also reshuffled the leadership of the National Salary and Wages Commission by appointing Major General Junaid Bindawa as chairman. Former Lagos lawmaker Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas was named secretary, while Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun, Yakubu Umar Barde, Dr Mai Adamu Yau, Ginika Florence Tor, Engineer Lawrence Okoh and Bello Morenike Iyabode were brought in as commissioners and members.

Elsewhere, Tosin Johnson Adeyanju was moved from the National Lottery Trust Fund to become Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission. Dr Abuh Mohammed was appointed Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi will head the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company, while Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin takes over as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Engineer Julius Oloro was named Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation, replacing the late Dr A.R. Kamal. The President also approved a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission with Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman.

Other appointments include Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, and Gisaor Vincent Iorja as Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority following the resignation of Mathias Byuan. The Presidency said all the appointments take effect immediately.
