Warri North: Oborevwori Urged to Ensure Political Inclusion for Egbema Ijaw

A socio-political group, Hope for Egbema People (HEP), has called on Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, to ensure equitable political representation for the Egbema Ijaw people in Warri North Local Government Area, citing the Federal Character principle enshrined in the 1999 Constitution.

In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Comrade Crowford Ditari, and Secretary, Eguofini Justice, the group alleged that major political offices in Warri North have been dominated by members of the Itsekiri ethnic group, leaving the Egbema Ijaw without representation in the current state administration.

HEP urged the governor to fulfil his pledge of inclusive governance by ensuring appointments reflect the area’s ethnic diversity.

The group argued that despite the Ijaw community’s significant contribution to the oil and gas resources of Warri North, it has remained excluded from key political appointments.

Recalling Oborevwori’s reported declaration that he is “governor for all Deltans, not any ethnic group,” HEP urged him to translate that promise into action through fair representation for the Egbema Ijaw people.
